Two mighty shiploaders to Taman

Two mighty shiploaders of 51*18*20 metres each were transported from Taicang in China to Taman, Russia, for FLSmidth. Happy Star was the best ship to take this on, as she would be able to load and carry the shiploaders with the extra cargoes of two 69*15*26 metre conveyor belts and the 40*14*12 metre tripper cars in the same shipment.

Originally, the shiploaders were due to be dismantled before transportation, but further on in the process it was decided to move them in one piece. This meant that the lifting plan needed to be recalculated. With the large shapes and a complete lifting weight of 916 mt per shiploader, this was a difficult lift, but no problem for Happy Star.

The two shiploaders and associated equipment were designed for a newly built terminal, which is owned and managed by OTEKO. This terminal was so new, that the berth where the unloaders will be operating, had not been quite finished when Happy Star arrived. Despite the fact it was still under construction, the enormous structures were safely placed in their rails and handed over to the new owner.
